Rated 5 de 5 de par Made in the USA Simpson is the leader in this field, and they manufacture their products in the USA. Check out their website for an exhaustive product line to solve your connection problems. I am tired of getting stung with inferior products manufactured overseas (aka China) and I will pay a little bit more to support domestic manufacturing AND a superior product.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Well made, Well Sized I use these to fasten 4x4s to concrete patios, and they work well. I just wish all these galvanized products weren't so bloody expensive. We need more competition here, guys, to keep you honest!

Rated 4 de 5 de par It will suffice While building a railing atop my wooden deck, these were used to stabilize the 4x4 posts (as I used 6x6 posts beneath the deck.) These do serve their purpose, however they are more wobbly than I had hoped. (In case you're wondering, I did attach them to the deck in all four pre-drilled locations each & attached the posts in all six pre-drilled locations using 3" galvanized screws on all.)

I bought this base bracket to originally attach a new post to the top of my stair tread, but after some comparison to the other side of the stairs, previously installed post of 50 years ago, I thought better of it. So I notched out the tread, as the other side did, and let the new pressure treated post sit on the cellar floor, and used the bracket to attach the new post to the side of the stringer. So the bracket is screwed to the stringer and the post is screwed on both sides to the side of the post. This held it in place so I could use levels to align the post straight then toenail into a solid position. This post is much stronger than the opposite side installed many years ago.

Rated 5 de 5 de par 4X4 galvanized base These bases are simply what they are, bases and not to much to say about them. They work for their intended purpose. They are a little of an eye sore for a deck that you are tyring to make look attractive. But again, they work as they are intended. Another thing that I didn't like was the fact that after screwing the bases down the 4X4 rests on top of the screws that secure them to the floor this causes a gap of approx. 1/4" which again causes a little of an eye sore for me.

The description says this is for installing into a concrete base, but the instructions only show it being used in a wood-to-wood application. Which is this? If for concrete, what size screw is needed to attach to an existing concrete slab?
Posée par: Mike
You can use it on concrete but the hols are small and it will not hold the wood strong enough if you will use it to hold only 1 lumber.

Would this base allow me to attach a 4x4 post to a porch with a composite floor? The posts will be supporting an overhang. Will use the 4x Adjustable Post caps to attach the posts to the existing header, but need to attach the posts to the floor.
Posée par: JP
Yes...These should work fine IF you have a solid structure under the composite floor. You should be attaching the post where the composite floor is supported by something like 2" x 8" and make sure the screws/nails make it down to the supporting lumber.

Is it acceptable to install this upside down?

I would like to secure the horizontal section to the 4x4 post and then straddle 2 2x8s. Is this acceptable? I am looking to hide the hardware as much as possible.
Posée par: Derek
The width between the flanges is 3 9/16" - sized for a 4x member, therefore would not properly fit over a double 2x member (3" total). Also, we can only support the installation of our connectors as evaluated/shown in our catalog/on our website. Altered installations must be evaluated and approved by the Designer/Engineer of Record. The BCS2-2/4 is the connector we have sized for a double 2x beam over a 4x post. Thank you!

Can I mount a new 4x4 post on top of an existing 4x4 post which is flash with deck surface? My old posts are outside of rim joist. There are two posts for each corner. I want to cut them and install new posts inside rim joist. But there are old posts inside flash with surface already.
Posée par: Blackartist
I use a lot of this type base plates on our farm, when we are anchoring into existing substructure material after the cut we water proof the area where we are going to install the baseplate, then we drill the existing baseplate hole to 1/4 inch and screw them down with a 1/4 inch by 4 inch lag screw, that has always worked for us. Home Depot has some heavy corner brackets that will do the also, they work really well.

Can I use to secure a 2x4 to existing concrete

I am looking to frame a screen door (not support structure). Can I use this to secure the 2x4 to existing concrete? Is there a base for a 2x4 which elevates the 2x4 like post bases for larger wood sizes? This is the best I see.... Thank you.
Posée par: Dave
This one is for a 4x4 post, they do make something similar for a 2x4. If you were to use this one, you would obviously have another 1 1/2"- 1 3/4" gap between the 2x4 and the other side of the bracket. Maybe if you doubled the 2x4 up, use a filler piece.? Hope this helps

Can this be used as a railing post base face mounted onto the deck surface?

Can I use this to mount my railing posts onto the deck surface as long as there is sufficient blocking under the deck board?
Posée par: Dan
We do not have a base designed to mount a railing post onto a deck surface. Please see the T-GRDRLPST10 Technical Bulletin on our website for information on code-compliant guardrail post connections. Thank you!

Can I set these in fresh concrete that has an upright bolt in the bottom to anchor fence posts?

Can I set these in fresh concrete that has an upright bolt in the bottom to anchor fence posts?
Posée par: DIYted
I use a lot of these brackets, they are just a base bracket, not meant for structural support, you will have to have an anchor down into the concrete also an anchor bolt upright for the post, the only way this would work is for a corner post application, home depot has an anchor that will support a line post as long as the post doesn't have to serve as a livestock fence, and the post is not over 42 inches long.
