Using gusset angles on both sides of some cross members for added strength. Joining with machine screws. Expected these gusset angles to be symmetrical, but holes are not drilled in same relative positions on the two sides. All holes are not the same size. Holes of two gusset angles on each side of a joint do not line up. Made my own corner braces to have double braces where desired. Tried to add photos but was not able to do so.

Very easy to install using Simpson deck nails on the side supports. Design of the gusset makes it structurally sound to carry the loads. They've been in use for a few weeks now and show no sign of failure or even deflection. Packaging and pick up at the lockers was convenient. Will definitely buy again as needed.

They provide sturdy support and are a low cost option for assembling the garden beds. This set is for a second bed located in the South-East corner of our back yard where we have had a small garden bed for years.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Great product IF they actually sell it at this $ I send HD an email a month ago, saying this product listing showed the incorrect photo and price. The photo and price is for a gusset bracket - which HD does not sell in Canada. That said, make them honor the price on the elevated post base and you come out about $14.00 ahead.

In my case they support no load, but they seem to be sturdy enough to support quite big forces. I used their #9 x 1.5 in. 1/4-Hex Drive, and I have nothing to complain about, I'm happy about it!

I was very pleased when I received them. They are heavier metal than I expected. I would recommend these angle gussets for about any project.

This is a 90 degree angle. It does a good job of squaring corners.

Would 18 penny nails work with these?

Posée par: Doran
In an attempt to accurately answer your question, I referred to a nail size chart to determine the length and diameter of an 18 d nail. The chart did not list an 18 d nail but rather went from a 16 d nail at 3.5" to a 20 d nail at 4" so I'm not sure that an 18 d nail is commercially available. There was no information about the diameter of these nails which leads me to speculate that there is no standard. I was interested in the diameter because the holes in this bracket are pre-drilled and whatever fastener you choose must fit into the confines of that pre-drilled hole diameter unless you choose to drill the holes to make them larger. There are screws available adjacent to the brackets at point of sale that are recommended because they are appropriate to use with pressure treated lumber and resist the corrosive effects of that lumber. If you are determined to use 18 d nails I would suggest you bring one to the store and determine if it will fit into the pre-drilled holes and then make your own decision as to the appropriateness of using the 18 d nails.

Will these last a long time without corroding on a pressurized wood privacy fence?

Posée par: Kc
I don't know what you consider a long time but they should last for years given their surface finish. You can paint them too to prolong their life if that doesn't cause a problem of appearance. Please remember to use fasteners that are rated for use in pressure treated wood as the wrong fasteners could corrode and fail long before the bracket..

Are these paintable? and What is the weight capacity? I'm looking to secure a ledge on a planter box for additional seating.
Posée par: Millie
Yes these are paintable, as long as you prepare the surface properly making sure it is free of dirt and oil. Weight capacity is about 500lbs if properly installed. Please see page six (6) of https://www.icc-es.org/wp-content/uploads/report-directory/ESR-3096.pdf for allowable load installation.

Can i use these for an outdoor chaise seat?

I want to attach this connector to the lumber face which would be the seat. and then screw to the side of the chaise. Just want to make sure that load baring for this connector can be horizontal and not just verical.
Posée par: NjJDYI
If you intend to use this to create a floating seat then no, it will not work. If you want to use this to support the seat so it is "hanging" on the connector then, yes it will work. The strength really comes down to the screws in this case and if they havea good "bite" in the lumber.
