Rated 1 de 5 de par Price reflects quality. It is embarrassing to think this product was actually packaged and sold. With a brand new battery, on a smooth, flat wall, this stud finder will consistently either tell me I have infinitely wide studs, no studs, or studs that move around. One second it's there, the next it's gone. I've found it less frustrating to just drill into the wall until I find a stud and then patch up the holes where I missed. It will also beep telling me I've lifted the device from the wall, even though I am firmly pressing it flat against the wall. I recommend spending the extra money on a more highly regarded stud finder to save yourself the grief.

Rated 1 de 5 de par $10 donation to Zircon Not sure what sets this device off but it certainly isn’t studs in my wall. My wall now bears the scars of many battles with my awl trying to locate the mysterious object with which my Zircon HD25 seems to be calibrated to find while unfortunately the elusive studs still remain hidden. I know they exist, I can infer their presence, but their location will remain a mystery until I shell out some money for a device that can actually detect them. If Zircon needed a donation, perhaps they should just shop around an investment opportunity instead of selling a stud finder who fails at its only listed purpose.

It gives a different result every time I slide it across my wall. I will slide it across and it will indicate there are multiple studs, but when I bring it back in the other direction to find the other edge of a stud I will go the entire lenth of the 6 foot wall without it beeping once. I went over the same area about ten times without being able to replicate the distance between studs. We have drywall that is definitely less than 3/4" thick and this product still cannot reliably find a stud. I will be returning it ASAP.

Rated 1 de 5 de par DO NOT BUY I opened the package and found out that it took some weird battery, so I went out and bought it. Then I read the instructions carefully, put it to my wall, and tried to figure out where my studs were. It would beep at random. In any particular spot, sometimes I would beep and light up, but then it wouldn't. After trying for 30 minutes, I went to my neighbor who works in construction. He used it and flat out told me that it didn't work and was just randomly beeping (so it wasn't that I was using it wrong). I took it back. Never again. Just tap on the wall with your fist or hammer and hope for the best - it'll still be better than trying to use this thing.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Piece of Junk This thing is a total piece of junk. I tried to mount a bookshelf in my daughter's room last night... no dice. This thing couldn't find sand in a desert. I suppose that is what I get for buying a $10 stud finder so I take some of the blame myself. But for Pete's sake don't sell a product that doesn't work AT ALL. I'm sure the higher models of Zircon work fine, but I refuse to give them another dime after I wasted money on this piece of garbage. It's just too bad I bought this awhile ago and never tested it or saved my receipt. I'll be stopping at Home Depot today and picking up a decent stud finder (made by another manufacturer). I'm usually even keeled and don't get to upset about things. I understand cheaper tools mean lower performance. But I was unaware they changed that to "cheaper tools mean NO performance."

Rated 2 de 5 de par False Positives Wall thickness can vary. Unfortunately, the walls were I used this stud finder caused some issues. I had to calibrate this thing every time I wanted to find a different stud on the same wall. It lit up nicely upon finding an edge when it worked, however, after drilling into the wall in between where it found the edges, it was off by 3.5"...no stud behind the drywall! I had better luck tapping the wall with my knuckle to find studs and then measure over 16". I bet users would have better luck with homes built within the last 20 years, as the materials used these days are cheap/thin.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Lousy This studsensor couldn't find its way across the street with a GPS. This was used on standard drywall in the garage. When it did indicate a nail was present, there was nothing. I could see where some tape was located and went there. Nothing. I went back to the tried and true method of using a finish nail to locate one stud which then gave me the location of the others by measurement. Worthless piece of junk.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Solid Product A great product for the value. It is simple to use and has been very accurate in finding studs in my house. The only complaint is we bought a house out in the country and I did not check to see If it came with batteries, it does not. It takes one nine volt and I had to wait a week to use it until we could get a battery. More on the operator error part on that one though. Again outstanding product, good price, easy to slide, easy to tell where the studs are as there is a red arrow marking the exact location. I would highly recommend this product.

Is there a battery and how do I get to it?

Posée par: Arnie
DO NOT UNSCREW THE BACK OF THE TOOL. This will release the components inside the tool and will cause it to work improperly. 1. Open the battery compartment door on the back. Insert a new 9V alkaline battery, matching the positive and negative terminals to the icons printed on the back. Be sure the battery has an extended expiration date. 2. Snap the battery into place and replace the battery compartment door.

Are you supposed to keep the on/off button pushed in after calibration and while you’re sliding it along the wall?

Posée par: Studdly
Yes. Once you have it calibrated you need to hold the button in as you slide it across the wall and you will get a tone and light when you pass a stud.

Will this locate a metal duct above a finished ceiling?

Example: I have looked at the manual and can't figure out what I did wrong.
Posée par: Jeremy
Hello Jeremy. The HD25 is a basic model, only meant to find studs up a 3/4 inch depth. It will not detect the ducting. We would recommend a tool with a metal scan mode for your type of task.
