Rated 4 de 5 de par Battery needed to be replaced I love this edger. After 4 months of ownership, the battery failed. Had to be replaced through the warranty process. Took a couple of weeks to locate my receipt. Then the battery was on back order, which tells me they are having production problems with this new 20v battery. Took 2 more weeks to reroute a battery from a different distribution site to me. So after 6 weeks I have it working again. I just love it. Just wished the battery was more reliable. But the next time it croaks, I'll have the receipt ready and if it is backordered, I and the repair center will know to find one somewhere else in the country and get it to me in a more timely manner.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Poor performing and Not Worth the Money Quality is poor: 1)edger guide does not work properly and is in the way for weed whacking 2) lithium battery is horrible...short life..I used 2 batteries and did not finish my small lawn! With my old device and 18v batteries , I could do it with 1 battery!3) handle placement and length of adjustable pole is uncomfortable for use! I am extremely disappointed and angry that I wasted my money,especially since I bought an extra charger and now plan to never use this product or their 20v lithium batteries again....will now shop for another brand,even though I have been loyal to Black and Decker since 1992.This product is total junk!

Rated 4 de 5 de par So far so good I've been using gas trimmers for 15 years. I never really considered an electric always thought they would be under powered or the battery life wouldn't hold up. After my gas trimmer broke at the end of last season I decided to consider the electric. I would never consider a corded model so the lithium battery powered seemed the way to go. I've used it around the house 3 or 4 times. It works well on the high power setting and I've never run out of battery before finishing the job. I don't miss mixing gas and oil for the old trimmer just grab the battery and go. Some reviewers noted it may not work as well for big jobs, but for the average homeowner I would recommend.

When its working its great--has two, easy to set, positions for edging and trimming and enough battery power to do the job and the charge lasts long enough for completing the full edging and trimming. However, charging the battery is an adventure. In the year+ I've had it, the charger has had to be replaced twice because it won't charge. I'm waiting for the third replacement and have decided to have a backup brand in case third time isn't a charm. Customer-company contact has been great, a five-star plus, but I'd rather have better quality control for the battery charger.

I've used it a couple of times now and love this BLACK+DECKER 12 in. 20-Volt MAX Lithium-Ion Cordless 2-in-1 String Grass Trimmer/Lawn Edger with 3.0Ah Battery. I'm now able to trim and edge both my front and back yard without having to stop and switch batteries like I used to have to do before with my old HedgeHog that finally died after about 10 years. I've done all the work from and back and STILL have plenty of juice to keep going. I LOVE the way this trimmer adjusts to be an edger by swiveling the shaft, and I love the wheel you roll along the driveway/curb to get a nice clean edge, and the 20-Volt is perfect for my yard. Very happy with this purchase.

I bought the Black and Decker 20 volt cordless trimmer on June 1, 2014, just shy of a year ago, but have only used it MAYBE a dozen times on my small low-maintenance front yard. In fact, I've only had to recharge the battery 3-4 times. Inside the trimmer, where the line spools, there's a small plastic peg with a metal casing. It is the piece that keeps the auto feed locked against the teeth/gear. Without it, the whole tool is unusable. It becomes a big piece of landfill garbage. Like mine. If you do buy this, you'll be needing the Black and Decker customer service number: 800 544 6986. Hope you kept your box, so you can ship it and wait weeks for a solution. Needless to say, I've made my last Black and Decker purchase EVER.

Rated 5 de 5 de par B & D Trimmer can't be beat! The Black and Decker 20-volt lithium-ion trimmer has exceeded my expectations. Almost straight from the box I was up and going, just the handle and the trimmer guard have to be assembled - no tools required. A full charge on the battery and this thing can match up with the 2-cycle it just replaced, with no mixing, choking, or pull starting. Very light weight and a dream to use. I would very much recommend this product.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Powerful, Light weight Excellent tool. Really does the job. Rotating head for edging is a big plus; guide wheel is a big help. I still haven't figured out how the automatic line feed knows when to kick in, but it does. Better than a bump feed. Battery has never run down on me yet. Recharges quick; probably won't ever use my gas trimmer again.

A Lithium Ion battery that is not being used will hold a charge for up to 12 months, but will need to be recharged before use after that time.

Anyone else have this battery size problem? Just purchased this B&D Cordless 2-in-1 String Grass Trimmer/Lawn Edger (Model LSTE523) and it came with a 2.5 Ah battery, not the 3.0 Ah that was advertised on this site. Going to return it after I call B&D Customer Service and they don't replace the battery with the one that was advertised. The box it came in says it has a 2.5 Ah battery! Not sure what's going on.

Mine also came with a 2.5Ah battery. Home Depot's ad is misleading. I did not return it, however. It works fine and the battery lasts well, esp. for a small yard. Light weight and easy to maneuver.

I'm 6ft tall and have some back trouble and wondering if this is long enough for me to hold while standing straight up? A lot of trimmers I have tried force me to hunch over which I can't do for more than a few minutes at a time without a lot of pain.

You’re not gonna want to use this or almost any trimmer out there if you’re interested in one that’s “comfortable “ for a bad back. They almost all require bending for me at 5’7” and since you’re half a foot taller you’ll be quite bent using it.
