I have used a gas 4 stroke trimmer for years and tried out my mother in law's battery powered Worx trimmer and loved the ease of use and light weight. I told my husband I wanted a battery powered trimmer as I tend to do the weed eating. He saw this one and with the price and the fact that it uses the same battery as the new power tools I got him he felt like it was a no brainier. I used it this evening after getting it this morning and only had one line feed issue due to trying to cut some saplings that were about 2 feet tall and the line getting caught in the green wood. It was a little frustrating getting the line straightened out, but only took about 5 minutes. I have to say I would buy it again.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great trimmer! I bought this trimmer in April 2019. I was skeptical about buying a battery operated trimmer. Would it run long enough to trim the whole yard? Did it have the power to cut stalky weeds? Knowing I could return it if it didn't perform, I bought it. My yard isn't that big, but there are a lot of places that the mower can't get to. This trimmer surpassed all my expectations. The 4AH battery has plenty of capacity to get the job done. There is always one light on the battery gauge when I'm finished. I use the trimmer on the lower gearing. High speed might use up the battery quicker, but it powers through everything nicely on low.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Great power and run-time, questionable workmanship This is a nice relentless destroyer of grass and weeds. I bought this in April 2018 and it stopped working last month. I took it apart and found the main power wire broke off. It looks like they connected a make spade connector to the wire then soldered that onto an even bigger spade connector. The smaller spade connector had broken in half at the where the solder had stopped. I solder the wire back on and it now works. The switch design also appears to be unnecessarily complex with a lot of wires coming out of it. I'm using that as a single home owner, not a pro.

Great to be able to use the batteries from other 20 volt Max tools. Appears to be well built and solid. Battery life seems to be ok. But when I used this trimmer out of the box, the supplied and pre-wound cutting line continually breaks off and I have to stop my work and pull the line holder apart to feed more line out and then put it back together. Then, it happens again after only a few minutes of work. Very frustrating! Perhaps the line was wound onto the spool incorrectly from the factory? Or too tightly? I am hoping that when I wind new line on myself, this wont be an issue anymore. I will take my time and wind the new line on as per the instructions in the manual.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Awesome String Trimmer! I’ve owned many “weed whackers” in my lifetime, and finally I’ve found the perfect string trimmer. The gas powered models become hard to start after use, and many of the battery operated models aren’t powerful enough and discharge quickly. This De Walt model is powerful and the battery lasts much longer than others that I’ve owned. I have a half acre lot and can weed whack the entire yard and still have battery life left. The string automatically feeds from the spool as you use the trimmer, with a tap and feed system. The unit carries a 3 year warranty. Buy with confidence! I did my research.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Horrible Product - constant restringing My old gas trimmer finally died after 20 years. Battery will never compete with gas but since I love most DeWalt tools, I bought this for my small yard. This is a terrible trimmer. Constantly restringing. I have spent more time taking it apart to thread than actual work. The dual string design seems to a problem as well. Purchased it at end of last season and stored for use this spring. Wish I could return it. Will be investing in a new trimmer soon and trashing this one. At least I can us the battery on my other DeWalt tools.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Worst Trimmer I have owned I've used Stihl and Husquavarna trimmers for 25 years plus on acreage property. I scaled down my property so thought I might be able to scale down and go green with a Dewalt 20V battery powered trimmer. Big mistake. I scaled down to about 800 sq ft of lawn and this Dewalt tool can't even make it one time around without having to disassemble and start the line spool over again. This year, I will have to replace the entire spool mechanism if I want to continue with the tool. Made in America?? If so, probably California, the equivalent of being made in a toilet. DON'T buy this tool if you need a serious weed trimmer.

Rated 1 de 5 de par No good for tall grass, rock and fence posts. I am a devout Dewalt 20 volt tool guy. I am disappointed with my new string trimmer based on the following: 1) 15 minute life on 4AH battery running on high speed. 2) Too soft Dewalt 2mm string, requiring constant feeding of string. 3) String advance releases way too much string per bump prompt. 4) MOST FRUSTRATING!!!!!!! In taller grass the grass gets spun between the string head and the motor head causing the string head to slow and or stall. This requires pulling or cutting the the head free.

Not an issue. You would be able to trim longer on a full charge. You could also use the smaller batteries but they would die faster.

No, its not. They put two columns of specs side by side so it looks like the battery and charger are refurbished, but the refurbished category has 'no' beside it, and was referring to the trimmer, not the battery/charger.

It works best with the .080 dia string. I have a gas trimmer using .095 string and there isn't much difference to cutting weeds, with the .080 string just go a bit slower letting the string cut and not force it to cut thru heavy stuff. If you keep after it you job goes much quicker and easier than once a month.
