Rated 1 de 5 de par Poor deflection shield design This trimmer will definitely handle what you want to cut regarding grass & weeds. Be prepared to be covered with whatever you’re cutting. Definitely wear long pants & eye protection, considering a full face shield. I’ll be trying again with a long sleeve shirt too as my supporting arm is welted from flying debris. This shield is about 1/3 of the size it needs to be & seems to be in there just for cutting excess line. I would have rated all stars if it wasn’t for this & would like to see a retrofit offered. In the meantime, I’ll use my 2-cycle, it’s safer!

Rated 2 de 5 de par Motor smokes and quits I’m on my 3rd one of these trimmers…all 3 have had the same problem where the motor begins to smoke and quits working. I weed eat from April-Oct and they all seem to quit in September. When the trimmer works, it does a great job. My husband and I have invested a lot of money into the batteries, that’s why I’m on number 3. I don’t like using a gas powered trimmer. The is perfect size for me to use. No gas to worry about. I have had a few batteries seem to get stuck and won’t come out. My husband had to help me there. It’s getting expensive buying trimmers ever year.

Rated 3 de 5 de par 1. dewalt should make the entire string housing component... 1. dewalt should make the entire string housing component easier to swap out. Or a simpler process to load the string. Both processes are unnecessarily cumbersome & awkward & overly complicated. 2. the guard should be wider 3. the string 'cutter' (to ensure the string is not overly long) needs to be sharp. It's not cutting the string, which causes the string to get caught in the housing. I can sharpen the string 'cutter' &/or cut the string to the proper length myself, but it should be sharp enough coming from the factory. I like the length of the arm/bar & that it's adjustable. It has plenty of power. I like that it has 2 speed modes.

Rated 1 de 5 de par It was great...then it went up in smoke I bought this cause I got tired of keeping a mixed fuel can and maintaining the small engine on my old red max. This didn't have quite as much power as my old commercial grade piece but sufficient for my 1 acre yard. I've used this DeWalt 3 times absolutely excellent and i love that it works with my impact sawzall drill and circular saw batteries. On my second flex volt battery of my yard the head starts smoking like crazy and it quits... I guess we'll see how good the warranty is. This unit is only 120 days old.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Better than expected Plenty of power and battery life, plus swap battery if need more run time. Very easy to remove spool for refill. If used properly, you are hit with little if any debris. Use the right side to cut, that throws stuff forward. If you do not pay attention and start cutting left of center, stuff will start kicking back. This is true of any string trimmer, pay attention to how it works.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Decent, but not great This trimmer has the potential to be amazing, but just falls short. First complaint is upon receiving it the spool was incorrectly wound. Not a big deal just not expected. I did notice until I first went to advance the line, one side shot out past the cutter and the other sucked back inside the head. Like I said, no big deal, couple of minutes to rewind the spool and I was off. That's when I realized the small guard on it didn't block much at all. I wear safety glasses when I trim for the occasional chunk that might get me, but with this trimmer it was constant. I read in the instructions there is a different shield you can buy, haven't found it any where though. Now for the good, I used this for about 2 hours non-stop on the low setting and still had 1 light on the battery. Could have easily went another hour or so. On top of that, it is considerably lighter than the gas trimmer I usually use. I'm about 6 foot tall and the length was perfect for me, I'm guessing if you're much shorter though it may feel a little oversized. Basically, if you're ok with wearing a face shield or getting hit with debris then this is a great product, otherwise hopefully they'll put a larger guard on the thing and then they'll really have a great product.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Disappointed The trimmer has plenty of power but even on low I can't finish my 1 acre lot with the 9ah battery. The guard does almost nothing to stop debris and the motor is always covered in grass trimmings. I vacuumed mine out. I've used it under 10 times and today 2 minutes into trimming I had to keep bumping it because string wouldn't feed out. Only slightly harder than usual and the shaft bent. Still works but I'm returning immediately. I was very hopeful switching from a gas weed trimmer. Now I have to figure out something else.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Broke Spool and Line I have not even trimmed my front yard of a small home plot and I have had to re-spool and thread at least 20 times and the spool broke. I initially used the stock line pre-installed but it was sheering off the spool head itself. Did not take long before I have to buy new line. Then I bought the round thicker line as per the manual and it still sheers off at the spool. Then to top it off the spool reel busted. The tool has power, and I love that fact, but when even at the low speed I can't keep the line from breaking.

how well does this weed wacker work with a regular 20V battery? lets say its a 20V 5AH battery, how long will it last before it needs a charge and is it leaving that much power on the table without the full 60V?

The 60v is not interchangeable down to a 20v. The 20v string trimmer is interchangeable to use the 60v.

Make sure it's spooled into the head in the correct direction. If you load it with string in the wrong direction the string won't advance when you bump the head.

No, the FLEXVOLT 60-Volt MAX Lithium-Ion Cordless Brushless 15 in. String Grass Trimmer (Tool-Only) will not convert to any other tool.
