Rated 5 de 5 de par Works great! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just purchased this tool yesterday for some future projects. But had a heavy snowstorm overnight and several pine limbs came down. One was lying on the garage roof and another tree limb. I unboxed the Ryobi Pole Saw, added some chain/ bar lube to the reservoir and assembled it. Cut that limb in no time and was able to remove it from the tree and roof. Worked great. I expected nothing less, since I own several other Ryobi power tools. My only criticism is that there is no storage slot on this tool for the combination wrench tool. A minor issue but it would be convenient to not have to hunt the tool down when needed.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Does the job but chain needs improvement I needed a few pine and spruce branches pruned around the property. This pole saw fit the bill for length and chain size. The unit works very quickly and cuts quite nice. That being said though, strength is key. With the unit fully extended the saw tends to jump if you don't have enough force pulling down on it. My only issue with it is that after sawing about six branches with a diameter of about 1 to 2 inches, the chain was completely dull. So dull that I've been unsuccessful in my attempts to file it into anything useable. At this point I'm looking at a new chain already so I might be looking aftermarket.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Works good. The saw goes together easy. But it has more flex in the pole when using the extension. It does a nice job of cutting limbs, as long as you don't exceed its rating. It will cut larger branches, but it take more work. I was able to cut 2" limbs without problems. It is an interesting setup with the controls and battery on one end, and the motor at the saw end. It makes it slightly top heavy. But once you have it in place, and weight helps with the cut. It did a better job than I was expecting.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Joy to use [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this saw as a Christmas present and since I own only Ryobi 18volt tools, I had enough batteries, lol. I got to use it yesterday and overall was extremely happy with it and the way it cut. I have only two very minor issues. 1. There is NO place to store the wrench/tool that is needed to keep the chain tight. 2. it seems to me that the tool is not as sturdy, especially with the extension added. Too much "flex" in the pole for my preference. Not to the extent that I can't enjoy using it. Probably just need getting used to I'm comparing it to my son's Stihl Kombi (which is much more expensive and designed for heavier work)

Rated 5 de 5 de par Prefer 18V over 40V [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used the 18V pole saw for years. It finally wore out so I purchased the new 40V. After a short period, I was dissatisfied with the 40V. Although noticeably more power and Tourque, I find the handle of the 18V more suited for cutting higher limbs because of the shape of the handgrip. Therefore I went back to the 18V. There is plenty of power in the 18V so unless the maximum power is needed or you'll never try to cut limbs at a maximum height, I'd highly recommend the 18V version but either will do a great job of sawing limbs

Rated 4 de 5 de par The unit cuts well. It does seem to need a good bit of attention to chain tensioning. I know new chains stretch but in the first 2 hours of operation so far I've retensioned the chain at least 10 times. Not a huge deal. Also as others have noted it is heavy. Particularly with with the extension pole added. My wife was not able to operate the unit. Of course maybe she did not WANT to operate the unit !!! Have went thru 50% of 1 18v 4am battery thus far. Cuts well, does the job and is heavy. This is for home use and at this point i'm catching up on long overdue trimming/pruning. I'd expect after that and hour or so in spring and fall is all it will be used. As long as it holds up I'm satisfied.

Rated 5 de 5 de par I really like the pole saw, I received it just the other day and now have had a chance to trim three of my trees. First assembly out of box was very simple and I was up and sawing in minutes. The saw did an excellent job of cutting the limbs that I cut. The reach was great, I was tempted to get up on a ladder to go higher but stayed on the ground to be safe. I really like the feature that it does not have an oiler, though I did manually oil the chain a couple of times while I was using it. The trimmer was easy to use and I did use the shoulkder strap which helped to keep the trimmer balanced.I would really recommend this tool, it is a good addition to my many Ryobi tools that work with the 18 volt battery.

Will this trim a tall wide laurel hedge as well as branches? thank you

Posée par: yard work
It's literally a mini chainsaw on a stick. I imagine it would be fine. I used it to trim an apple tree and remove some pretty heavy branches on a couple other trees.
