Rated 1 de 5 de par Never worked and still does not after repair. We bought this Ryobi in the winter of 2022 and it never worked. We called Ryobi, finally we were dirrected the ONE service place in Vancouver and took it there. The issue we were told, after 3 months of waiting, was the circuit board and finally your main office sent a new handle/motor. We could not really try it until this year and our first light snow. It still does not function properly. It starts and stops and starts and stops. We have never been able to use this shovel AT ALL since we bought it. We paid $409 at Home Depot. We have other Ryobi products which are great, but this one is causing us distress. We are seniors depending on having some power for shovelling the small amount of snow here in BC. But we need it. At this point, I would like a refund since we have never had the benefit of one winter using it. That is a lot to pay to haul the item back and forth for repair.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Wet snow, no problem Sticky wet snow. Batteries charged up (using a 40V from my Ryobi lawn mower fits perfect and works, 6Ah) You need to plan where the snow is going be thrown. And I kept the power on when turning around pivoting. So my driveway is 25ft long and 15ft wide. Did the zamboni pattern, throwing the snow back onto my lawn. If it's windy the snow will blow back into your face. The throwing distance is about 10-12ft. We got a 15cm dump of wet snow and it did a good job. Instead of 45min of shoveling, it now takes 15min. 4 stars, the shaft bolts look attachment locations could begin to loosen up. And the bumping, lifting, could place excra stress on the slip joints and wobblyness in the shatf could develop. Good job, save me time and energy. Used 4 times in 2024 so far, good investment

Rated 4 de 5 de par Awesome snow removal tool Had first snowfall of autumn 2023 of around a inch. This Electric snow shovel, or what I call a miniature snow blower did the job without any problems. Was able to use this tool while walking with cane (disabled in leg) one handed and it did the job very well. This is much easier than using a normal shovel. The biggest feature of this unit over other electric snow shovels was the wheels. Those wheels where awesome and help guide the unit forward with ease. I have no complaints it works great.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Saved My Back! Works on all types of snow [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this snow shovel in late November 2022. Used it throughout the winter (we're now in mid March 2023): - wet, heavy snow - slush - dry fluffy snow - medium/average type snow - compacted snowbanks left by city snow plows - used it on 3-4 cm and up to 75cm packed snow banks. Here is the good: + Handled all types of snow very well + Much easier than shovelling manually : Average type snow just gets thrown forward and out of the way. + For the super compacted heavy snowbanks left by city plows, I once got a 75cm tall snowbank I had to clear. Had I done it manually, I would have been completely drained and sore. With this shovel, though, it was much, much easier: I lifted the shovel with both hands, and little by little skimmed the snow banks: first by running it along the top of the snow banks or the sides, and then by slowly dropping the shovel vertically in the middle of the snow banks as far down as it could go. I was done in a couple of minutes. In the past, it used to take me from half to one hour and a massive amount of effort. I was able to do it this year in less than 5 minutes with minimal effort. Bring it on, city plows! I no longer fear you! + Easily handles up to 30cm of lighter fluffier stuff and has no issue with 15cm of heavy wet snow + Takes less space than a dedicated snow blower: I simply can’t justify having a snowblower sitting in the garage doing nothing for 9 months; this shovel is so small, I can put it away in a corner or hang it on a wall. + Throws snow far enough: wet snow doesn’t fly as far as the dry powdery stuff, but it still throws it farther than I could with a manual shovel and more importantly : saves my back! Auger is still in perfect shape even though I hit icy chunks and caught cedar tree branches with the auger + Runtime (4 AH battery) is very good: I have a 5-car driveway (5 cars wide, 1 car deep) and a small walkway to clear. I only ran out of battery a single time : when I got 32cm of heavy wet snow, I was almost done and I had no more power left (not much of an issue in my case: took the battery from the lawnmower and finished the snow). + On 15-20cm snow, I usually finish the 5-car driveway and walkway with 1 to 2 bars left on the battery; I even have enough to do some of the sidewalk since the city doesn't plow that + The little wheels are very helpful to maneuver the shovel The less good: - No direction control: the auger propels the snow forward only. So you have to plan where and how you’re throwing it - It is relatively heavy at approximately 10kg (with 4AH battery). An average person should have no issue lifting it occasionally if needed, but someone of less than average strength might struggle. Most of the time this is not an issue: the shovel is on the ground; you don’t need to lift it and the weight ensures that it gets all the way to the ground. Where it could become an issue is if you get more than 30cm of snow. One way would be to lift the shovel with both hands and skim the top half of the snow then the bottom half. That’s how I had to do the 75cm packed snowbanks the city plows left me. Depending on your strength and stamina, this could be an issue. Another way to deal with a lot of snow, is to do half passes along the edge of the snow. And a third way would be to ram the shovel back and forth in the snow like a vacuum cleaner. The Could Be Good Or Bad: - Doesn’t throw the snow super far : other models from competitors throw it much further out. The question is: do you really need it to throw snow all the way across the street or halfway into the neighbours' yard? If you live in a standard urban or suburban setting with neighbours, this Ryobi shovel throws the snow far enough to clear your driveway or walkway, but not so far that you end up in a fight with the neighbours. The amazing: + I had an issue at the beginning. Although it didn’t completely prevent me from using the shovel, Ryobi support was amazing! They got it all sorted out. I’ve rarely seen customer support this good. This summer I'll be upgrading some of my other equipment, and because of the incredible customer service, Ryobi tools will be my first choice.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Worked Great Got 5" of wet snow yesterday and my replacement unit with the new improved on/off switch worked great! This thing actually performed better than I expected. Unit threw heavy/wet snow without issue and was easy on the battery. Additionally, thanks to Ryobi Customer Service for their attention to the issue I was experiencing with my original unit.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Nothing fancy but gets it done. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] works well , just had our 1st snow and it cut through 4 inch's wet snow. However, there are 2 issues. The first is the trigger switch is not working all the time. I have to hold straight up to get it to work sometimes. can't get it to work in the use position. The second you can't adjust the direction of the Shute. That is just the way it is.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Makes Shoveling Easy So I had been looking at these electric power shovels for several years now. I had watched some Youtube videos, shopped online and after awhile I decided to give the Ryobi a shot. I also own some other Ryobi yard tools so I already had the batteries and thought this might be worth trying. We had our first snow up in Boston earlier this year. It wasn't much, a few inches, but I gave the machine a try. Works beautifully. I have a large driveway and this won't replace my snowblower, but it will absolutely help out on the walkways, the decks and even the driveway from time to time. I loved having the wheels at the back to balance, pushes easily and consistently through the snow. Overall just another winner from Ryobi.

Can you easily remove the handle / vertical shaft for storing in a SUV?

Posée par: Epowerplus
Well, its not designed to just snap off. You could remove the handle with a few screws. Not difficult, but it would be a pain....

Can I use the 6ah 40V battery that came with my lawnmower or will the unit handle only a max of 4ah? Thanks.

Posée par: Legrospasbon
Hi there, Thanks for reaching out to us regarding the 40V Cordless 12-inch Wheeled Snow Shovel Kit with 4.0 Ah Battery and Charger. You may absolutely use your 40V 6ah battery with this snow shovel. A battery's amp-hour indicates how much "juice" is in each charge. For further information, please contact RYOBI Customer Support at 1-800-860-4050. Thanks, RYOBI Canada Team.

Could this be used in gravel? I have a small parking pad off my garage

Posée par: Giesy05
Probably not good on gravel. The brushes are rubber and would wear or bind.

Will this shovel work with deeper snow than 6”? Last storm in Ottawa was 16” How to use this shovel if the snow is higher tan 6”? Thanks

Posée par: Ff14
You will have to use this in shovel fashion by taking 5-6 inches from top to bottom at a time. Biggest drawback is snow only goes forward. Cannot deflect right or left. That would make it much better.
