Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST tech support Might be a little early to give full credit to the product (although I doubt it), but I can only praise their tech support! They we cordial and very professional, I was on the phone with them for at least 2.5hrs! Never did they say the problem was on my side, we tried all sorts of things from tracing wires, reconfiguring and various tests. Finally after we exhausted all possibilities, we concluded that there might be a problem on the furnace side although they had previously denied it, and yes, a furnace technician had forgotten to reconnect a wire this summer during the annual checkup/cleaning!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stylish and Easy to Program We Purchased the Ecobee Thermostat about 2 months ago we choose the Ecobee over the nest as we preferred the style( look) of it . We did have a friend that is an electrician install for us however we have had a few friends that installed on their own and after watching the installation it does look easy. Both my wife and I have installed the phone app and we are loving how easy it is to use and program . Not to mention the interface of the Ecobee allows you to check the forcast . I Highly recommend the Ecobee thermostat

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bad quality hardware and software This device is buggy and lacks fundamental thermostat features like having another schedule setting (my antique Honeywell had 4 settings- morning, day, evening, night), and this one has only 3. When adding new setting, Ecobee will ignore it and set to next default setting. Trying to manually set temperature sets it to check temperature sensor that is on the device itself and not the one attached to the current setting, so there is no way to manually set temperature upstairs. Temperature sensor is another marvel- it shows temperature about 1-1/12 degree difference from the actual and it becomes really hot upstairs. Recent firmware update didn’t fix anything.. So much for ‘learning’ thermostat.. everything is oriented to attract buyer with fancy ‘smart’ features, not build solid product. Btw, old Honewell lasted 20 yrs, you just change batteries..

They are a breeze to install and easy to use. I love being able to check the temperature in the various out buildings remotely. The fourth thermostat is in my home and does such a great job of holding the temperature constant all year long. I highly recommend the Ecobee thermostat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Installion didn’t work! I hate to have to give a thumbs down to this unit. I loved everything about it except it would not turn on my furnace. I carefully followed the installation instructions, which are very clear, by the way. I woke up in the morning to a 17C house. I double checked my wiring; they wisely have you take photos of the wiring in your old thermostat and the new one. As far as I could see, I’d done it correctly. I reinstalled the old thermostat to get the house heated back up again, spotted what I thought might have been a wiring error on my part. I corrected it, reinstalled the Ecobee, and woke up in the morning to a 15C house! At this point I returned the thermostat, admittedly with regret. I have an Ecobee installed in a rental property I own and it is great, but, for whatever reason, I couldn’t get it to work in my home. My advice is to double check that your system is compatible or spring for the extra bucks to have a professional install it.

It changes the temperature arbitrarily when you set it to cool the house down to a certain temperature.It adds a dagree so that if you set it for twenty three equals to twenty four and shuts off.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wrong Temperature, can't tell when is on Replaced an old Honeywell that worked very well. Easy install, nice large screen, easy to operate (Nest users be assured you can learn it, like any new thing in life). However, the temperature was 1C to 1.5C higher on the Ecobee vs the old one. The old one was kept at 22C in winter and house had 18C at floor level (I have a thermometer there). I had to jack up the Ecobee to 23 -23.5C to get the same at floor level. Also the Ecobee would start only when the difference from setting was 0.5C. So at 23C setting it would start only if it went down to 22.5C. By that time I was cold, had to put additional layer on, then it started and I was hot. The old thermostat never showed any change in temp from its setting. How is this a good thermostat when it cannot do the basic measurement of temperature right and you have to constantly bundle and unbundle? I red that this is one of their "saving" features, to have that delta at 0.5, but the level of comfort was terrible. I found a setting that reduced that delta at 0.3C but it was still slow to start, a lot of useless built in delays, still uncomfortable, constantly needed to change temperature as I was getting cold day or night. On top of that there was no indicator to show when the furnace was ON!!! Really, this is what a smart thermostat gives you? I was cold, upped the temp, and couldn't tell if it was working now or in 5 min due to some "smart" feature and freezed in the meantime.
