Rated 2 de 5 de par Mounting System Not An Improvement The mounting system for these types of towel bars and rings has typically used a small metal set screw to hold the posts onto a metal plate which is affixed to the wall. Moen has changed the method to attach the posts on these bars/rings to plastic, with tiny plastic tabs which "lock" the posts onto the wall plates. Lock is a good descriptino because once the posts are affixed to the wall, you'll never get them off, at least without breaking the flimsy plastic tabs. As there's no other way to attach the posts to the wall, the bars/rings are rendered useless. Perhaps that was the intent: you have to buy all new any time you paint or change location.

I ordered my sink and tub faucets through my contractor because he (and another high end retailer) told me Moen makes two lines: one for Home Depot and a higher quality/more expensive one for contractors. (For the record, Moen says this is not true.) The finish on the accessory pieces (towel bars, towel ring, tank handle and robe hook) DID NOT MATCH the pieces I ordered through my contractor. Maybe the Home Depot faucet matches--I don't know because there wasn't one on display. The faucets are a plain, solid brown and the accessories had a brown/orange mottled finish. Had to return because I didn't like the mottled finish.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Cheap plastic fastening mechanism Looks great and easy to install, but the 2nd time I used it the post and bar fell off the wall. The mechanism to secure the post to the wall is a plastic latch that doesn't do a great job staying latched. There's no set screw, it's just "push-on" installation. After installation and hanging a towel, pulling on the towel caused the post to come unattached, the bar clanging to the floor, and much consternation on my brow. Poor product design, presumably to save a few bucks on manufacturing. Not happy with this purchase.

Bad: The way you attach it to the wall is a terrible system. I thought I had it secure with the anchors but after I put the bar on, it was a little loose on one side. To take the ends off, requires you to almost destroy the anchor inside and the wall. I was able to finally get it to release from the anchor and tighten up the anchor some more. Advise: Before you attach the bar, make sure the anchors are really fastened to the wall. That is the reason for taking one star off. If you could release it from the anchors easier, it would get 5 stars.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Difficult to remove - Moen 800# was not helpful My Builder installed one of these towel racks in the wrong place. I called the 800# listed at the end of the installation video, and was ultimately referred back to the same installation video. The snap on system used for installation is probably fast & easy for installation, but not intended for uninstallation. Bottom Line - don't buy the Pro Fit products if you think you may have to move one in the future.

I knew it at the time of installation and now less than 2 years later the towel rack is very loose agains the wall. I'm trying to un-hook the metal from the mounting bracket, but it will not come off. O Bottom line is I should have paid for one with a normal mounting system. They try to make these easier for the idiot DIY'r and they end up with a poor quality product.

Rated 3 de 5 de par They don't make them like they used to. I bought this to replace an identical older Moen towel bar in a different finish. When I took the old one off and unpackaged the new one, the difference was shocking. The old one had a little cutout in the bar so it stayed stationary (didn't rotate) and it was an actual metal bar vs. a flimsy piece of plastic (or super thin metal). I had no issue installing though my wife and kid have both knocked it off the wall a couple of times which never happened with the old proper mounting using a set screw. Overall it looks nice enough and does the job but wow, cheap cheap quality.

I choose Moen products for my master bath remodel because so far i had a very good experience with them, easy installation and quality at an affordable price. I have to admit that I'm not impressed with the new anchoring system they devised for the accessories. While it is rather easy to instal them (it literally takes 5 minutes) it is an absolute nightmare trying to remove them after they snap in. No matter what you use to try to push the latch so you can simultaneously slip out the metal holder it does not work. The latch barely bends once is hooked and there is really not much space in the hole so you can push it deep enough while pulling to disengage it. I just spent almost an hour trying tho remove one, and I'm pretty sure the only reason I finally managed is that there was enough damage to the latch that it gave up. I truly hope the quality is still there because i'm not looking forward any time soon to install new ones.

The space from the wall to the inside edge of the bar itself is 2 3/8". The end bracket sticks out 3" from the wall.

We wanted a custom size also that they did not stock, so we bought a longer one and cut the bar down to size before installing. The end caps cover any signs that you cut the bar as long as you make a clean cut.

Hello Sand1944 and thank you for your interest in Moen products. The Moen Brantford 24 in. Towel Bar in Oil Rubbed Bronze uses the Pro+Fit installation system. To remove the towel bar from the wall you will need to locate the notched opening on the underside of the decorative mounting post. Using a small flat bladed screw driver, you will need to push the screw driver up into the opening; while pressing upward you can then rock/wiggle the mounting post loose from the hardware. Can not remove installed towel bar

Reading your response to another customer's same question, we followed your instruction to no avail. Rocking the mounting post only loosened it from the wall. Now we have a big hole where one post used to be and the other post still secure in the wall which we can not remove. This is a terrible design. So disappointed in Moen. We will have to rip the other post out of the wall, repair the damaged wall and start over again with another product.

Towel Bar in Oil Rubbed Bronze has a square opening at the base of the post facing down to matchup with a locking tab, the locking tab must be impressed towards the finished wall surface in order to remove the decorative hub and expose the wall anchor.
